Our History

A Legacy of Excellence & Community Building

The Ikoyi Club 1938 Golf section has a rich history from the 1938 merger of the European Club and Lagos Golf Club. Over the years, the club has fostered a family-oriented culture that has been particularly beneficial to the ladies' sub-section.

This merger allowed women from diverse backgrounds to create a strong, supportive community. Led by a combination of European and Nigerian women, the ladies' sub-section has built a legacy focused on family bonds and recreational enjoyment.

These pioneering women developed many of the enduring structures the club enjoys today, including the prestigious Ladies Open. This major championship, a cornerstone of the club's calendar, is a testament to their vision and dedication.
